Injuries hit Chonburi´s cup hopes

Thai Premier League runners-up Chonburi are confident of victory over Hong Kong's Citizen AA in Tuesday's AFC Cup clash.

Chonburi, looking to consolidate their position at the top of Group G, have been hit by injuries with key defenders Anucha Kitpongsri and Natthaphong Samana doubtful.

"We are a bit concerned that we have some key injuries with our starters, especially on both flanks," coach Withaya Laohakul told reporters.

"However, we are still confident with what we will have on the field and also the work that the players have been putting in towards finishing our chances."

Meanwhile, Citizen's coach Chu Kwok Kuen revealed that his team is confident of taking a point.

"We are prepared and ready but we know that Chonburi are the best team in our group," he said.

"However, we are going to play our best to gain the three points, although I would be happy with at least one point."

In the last match, Chonburi earned a 1-0 win over Singapore Cup holders Home United, while Citizen managed to secure their first AFC Cup win 2-1 over Myanmar National League side Yangon United.
